Please make sure you call or email beforehand, so we can make sure we have an instrument for you, and also to confirm that practice is on.

What a parade! Xmas in Palmy

Samba ao Vento won the prize for the best community float at the Palmerston North Xmas Parade!
Was it because we sounded amazing? Or because we brought the perfect summer weather? Or because of our energy and enthusiasm? It was probably our white pants and the chicken and chips, but that's a different story...

So much fun to play when the crowd is this happy. Thank you Palmy!!!!!!

  • Who we are

Bringing Brazilian Beats to the Manawatu

Like the region's famous westerly wind, the powerful Brazilian rhythms of Manawatu-based percussion group Samba ao Vento will knock you off your feet.

Players of all ages, experience levels and musical ability are welcome to join us in learning these infectious grooves and generating energy at community events around Palmerston North and beyond.

Born out of African rhythms, Samba is the music you hear at the Carneval in Rio, and increasingly all over the world.
The drumming section - or bateria - mixes various percussion instruments to create the signature "samba" rhythm.

It's loud, infectious, fast and fun!
